Why access our disability services?
At Carers Connection we believe that early intervention is vital to giving a child who has a disability the best start in life. Knowing when and how to help your child learn in everyday situations will ensure that they have positive experiences and are learning new skills and behaviours to promote their independence.
We work closely with a child, their family and the services they participate in. We recognise that parents are experts on their own child and we provide them with information and support that enable them to make informed decisions.
How we can help
Together we work to understand your child and their developmental needs. We can help your child develop better coping skills, and support you to learn to respond appropriately to your child’s behaviours, and meet their developmental needs.
We practice using a transdisciplinary model and work collaboratively to ensure we provide a considered, holistic and balanced service. We share knowledge, skills and information to best support the needs of each child and their family.
We provide individual sessions to children and their families to support:
- Play skills
- Problem solving skills
- Social and communication skills
- Thinking and concentrating
- Behaviour and self-esteem
- Self-care and hygiene
Our psychologists have a wealth of experience in supporting young children with disabilities and their families. We work with you to develop a plan focused on your child’s learning, emotional, and behavioural needs.
